Yes, that task. The one that reappears on your ‘to do’ list every day until finally you have to tackle it. You can just about manage it but it takes ages and saps you of the will to live. You know you’ll get it done eventually – you always do.
But it won’t be beautiful.
Being in your ‘SLOW’ Zone is exactly what it says on the tin.
Doing a task that plunges you into the Slow Zone feels like swimming through rice pudding. Uphill.
It might lack the terror-factor of a ‘NO’ Zone task but it’s still about as much fun as a migraine. The only good thing you can say about a ‘SLOW’ Zone task is that when it’s done, it’s done… At least until the time comes when you have to tackle the damned thing again.
Do yourself a favour and go and read yesterday’s post about the horrors of being in the ‘NO’ Zone.
Many of the solutions are identical. What they boil down to is this:
Find someone who, miraculously, unbelievably, is completely in their Flow Zone doing the stuff you hate.
Love them. Treasure them. Look after them. Most of all, pay them in full and on time.
This will free you up to do what you’re fabulous at. That thing you’re in love with doing. That thing that seems to change the structure of time, making the hours fly by like the flap of a bird’s wing.
That thing that’s going to give you a life of happiness and abundance and put you in an insanely good mood almost all the time.
If you’re shouting: “I can’t afford to outsource my admin and operations!”
Change that this instant to:
“I can’t afford not to. My business and my life will never scale the heights of what’s possible until I’m able to spend my time doing The Thing I’m supposed to do.”
Go on, say it out loud.
Now yell it. With GUSTO!
(I’ve said it before – I do love that word.)
TASK: Identify your Slow Zone jobs and create an action plan (with pretty-damned-soon timescales) for outsourcing them.
One of my Slow Zone tasks is tweeting. Any Twitter geniuses out there fancy a skill-swap? I’m a dab hand at helping you to give anxiety the boot. Form an orderly queue in the comments below.
Next time we’re going to visit your ‘GO’ Zone. Stay tuned…
